Visual Evaluation
OELCHECK
Test equipment:
Illuminated magnifying glass
Sample quantity
needed:
Complete sample container
Unit: Particle > 25 µm
Operating time: About 1 min
Analysis of: All kinds of oils
Test result: Information about contamination, cords and cloudiness
Brief description: The filled oelcheck sample containers are turned upside down for 15 minutes. The upside down bottles are going into a heating cabinet. The viscosity of the oil becomes lower by heating it up to 60°C and particles in the liquid are able to sink down to the white inner surface of the cap.
Afterwards the sample bottle is turned around and the cap will be opened quickly. Contamination can be easily identified on the white inner surface of the cap.
The contamination will be investigated with the help of the illuminated magnifying glass. Estimation about the type and amount of contamination takes place.
After investigation a picture is done from the inside of the cap and from the sample bottle. The picture supports the evaluation of the oil sample and is part of the lab report.
Statement:   A visual control of the sample with the help of an illuminated magnifying glass, which allows a brief estimation about contamination, cords and cloudiness.
