| OELCHECK Test equipment: | Cylindrical sample container out of metal |
| Sample quantity needed: | About 50 g |
| Unit: | % |
| Test result: | Determination of oil separation from greases |
| Operating time: | 18 hours for short time test 168 hours for standard test |
| Analysis of: | All kind of greases, excluding free flowing greases |
| Brief description: | The grease is filled homogeneously into the cylindrical sample container. A conical sieve is at the bottom of this container. The weight of the sample is determined by a balance. The sample container is inserted into an oil collecting vessel and a weight is put on the sample surface to increase the pressure on the sample. After 18 hours (short time test) or after 168 hours (standard test) with a test temperature of 40°C the separated oil is collected and weighted. The result is declared in % relative to the initial weight of grease. |
| Statement: | The test is used to evaluate the oil separation of greases under static conditions. The result shows the tendency of the grease to separate the oil under bearing conditions or central lubrication units. |
