| OELCHECK Test equipment: |
Herzog Pour- and Cloudpoint Apparatus HCP 852 |
| Sample quantity needed: | 45 ml |
| Unit: | °C |
| Test results: | Cloudpoint respectively Pourpoint |
| Operating time: | 1 – 5 h |
| Analysis of: | Diesel fuel, Bio diesel, Low temperature oils |
| Brief description: | The Cloudpoint determines the temperature at which a pure liquid mineral oil product – under defined conditions – gets cloudy through the separation of paraffinic crystals. The Pourpoint indicates the temperature at which the oil being included in a horizontally placed test kit stops flowing within 5 seconds |
| Statement: | At low outside temperatures the oil may thicken and can therefore no longer fulfil its lubricating function. The Pourpint indicates, at which temperature the oil loses its flowing properties. For heating oil and fuel the Cloudpoint gives information about the low temperature properties of the product. Cloud- und Pourpoint are influenced by the formation of paraffinic crystals which depend on the provenience of the base oil and the degree of deparaffination. |
